Scientist I/II, Organoid Technology Development at System1 Biosciences

System1 Biosciences is revolutionizing drug discovery for brain disorders. Founded by professors from Columbia University and UCSF and experienced technologists, we combine biotechnology, neuroscience, robotics, and machine learning techniques. We employ AI-driven phenotypic screening to discover novel drugs for complex neurological and psychiatric diseases such as epilepsy, autism, and schizophrenia.

We are building a world-class high-throughput cell culturing, microscopy, and bioassay platform coupled with advanced image processing and data analytics.

We are seeking an experienced, innovative, and highly-motivated scientist with an especially strong background in organoid technology to help build a revolutionary new technology platform.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, Plan, carry out and analyze experiments independently
  • Drive aspects of our brain organoid technology development within an interdisciplinary environment
  • Stay up to date with the organoid field and suggest new developmental paths
  • Support assay development and develop downstream analyses

Required:

  • 3+ years of experience with brain organoid culture, using different protocols & cell lines
  • You have demonstrated to be able to effectively plan, carry out and analyze your experiments and communicate the results to a broader audience
  • Expert knowledge in brain development and/or neurological disorders.
  • Experience in carrying out biological assays such as immuno labeling, DNA, RNA and protein analyses as well as imaging based assays
  • Ability to quickly learn, adopt and deploy cutting-edge methods from the literature
  • MS or PhD degree in a relevant discipline

Preferred:

  • Academic publications demonstrating the excellence of your research
  • Experience in growing organoids other than brain organoids
  • Experience with lab automation and cell culture scale up
